WPG (3702 TT) Reports August 2012 Consolidated Sales of NT$32.16 Billion, +13% YoY. YTD Consolidated Sales of 2012 Reaches NT$235.18 Billion, +7.2% YoY.

Benefitted from increaseddemand from emerging markets such as China and Southeast Asia combined with increasing new 3G subscribers to push the sales of smartphone and tablet increasing rapidly,WPG, the largest distributor of semiconductor components in Asia, reported August 2012 consolidated sales ofNT$32.16billion, a 13% increase over previous year’s 28.48 billion; YTD consolidated sales of 2012 reached NT$235.18billion, a 7.2% increase over 2011’s NT$219.43billion.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of PRC, there are 1.062 billion mobile phone subscribers by the end of July 2012. Among them, 3G subscribers were increased by 8 million per month and totaled 183.76 million. It is noteworthy that there were 55.338 million incremental3G subscribers which were over 70% of 2012’s 75.775 million incrementalmobile subscribers. This 3G conversion helped the business growth of smartphone makers and related component distributors; moreover it also helped the business growth of local tablet.

The sales breakdowns by regions of WPG are 79% from China (incl. HK), 14% from Taiwan, 5% from ASEAN and 2% from others.
