WPG Holdings Limited (3702 TT) announced its 100%-owned subsidiary, Silicon Application Corporation, reached the deal with a Singapore-based distributor, Silicon Application Pte Ltd. (SAPL), to acquire its electronic components business in cash. WPG would enlarge the market penetration in Southeast Asia and China, and enrich product offerings of telecommunications, lighting and optics components through the acquisition.
SAPL was established in Singapore in 1990 with annual revenue of around US$50 million in 2009 and total employees of 50. SAPL has been working in the telecommunications, consumer electronics, automotive, lighting, optics and laser applications. The main product segments include Bluetooth devices, Dect and VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), Digital Set Top boxes, Power and Industrial solutions, Laser modules, Automotive, Commercial & Industrial LED Lighting solutions. The major customers of SAPL are Cal-Comp Electronics and Communications and Flextronics, etc., and the product lines include NXP, Infineon, Qimonda, Osram, Sanyo, OKI, Micronas, IBM, etc.
