2008 Revenue Reaches NT$124.57 Billion (US$3.99 Billion) on a Year-to-date Basis with 11.51% Year over Year Growth

With the growth in demand of the 3C products and the passive components market penetration, WPG, the largest distributor of semiconductor components in Asia, announces October 2008 consolidated sales of NT$13.27 billion (US$406 Million). On a year-to-date basis, 2008 revenue reaches NT$124.57 billion (US$3.99 billion), a 11.51% increase in comparison with the previous year.
Driven by continuing profit growth and improving quality in working capital management, WPG generates NT$2.58 billion (US$80 million) positive cash flow with the lowest inventory cycle this year, and will continue to run the company prudently, while managing the business responsibly to take advantage of growth opportunities.
WPG has strong presence in Asia as shown by over 100 authorized semiconductor component suppliers, 4 main warehouses, 34 branch offices and more than 2000 sales related personnel in the region; trans-national marketing, sales and supply chain; Design-win, technical support & "solution provider" culture are what we provide to support OEM/ODM clients in Asia-Pacific, especially China.
Other than notebook, UMPC, mobile phone, Apple i-Phone 3G, notebook PC and networking, through Pernas, WPG now has built partnership with Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Littlefuse, Vishay, Sagami, Showa Denko in passive component market. "Pernas has made more than 8% profit contribution to the group, which exceeds our expectations," said Simon Huang, chairman and president. "We are confident in our ability to keep in the leading position in the Asia-Pacific marketplace, not only in sales but also the profitability and the cash flow performance."
Sales growth is mainly driven by the Asia Pacific and China emerging domestic markets. The sales breakdown by region was as follows: 77% from China (incl. HK), 13% from Taiwan, 9% from ASEAN and 1% from Korea.
The sales breakdown by product category was as follows: 45% from core chips (CPU, MPU, chipsets), 30% from standard chips (logic, analog/linear, discrete and ASSP), 11% from memory chips (DRAM, SRAM, Flash, EEPROM), 4% from passive components, and 10% from others.
