With shipment of NB, UMPC, Mobile Phone, i-Phone 3G, and LCD TV growth, and contribution of passive components from Pernas acquisition in July, WPG, (the largest distributor of semiconductor components in Asia) announces August 2008 consolidated sales of NT$13.83 billion, and YTD 08 consolidated sales of NT$96.92 billion, representing a 9% YoY increase.
WPG, a full footprint in Asia with over 100 authorized semiconductor component suppliers 4 main warehouses, 32 branch offices and more than 1500 sales related personnel in the region; Trans-national marketing, sales and supply chain; Design-win, technical support & ?olution provider?culture to supports OEM/ODM clients in Asia-Pacific especially China emerging markets. Other than NB, UMPC, Mobile Phone, Apple i-Phone, Notebook PC and Networking, WPG continually provide the total solution for touch panel in passive and active components, LED?tc. in different application area. WPG will keep in the leading position in the Asia-Pacific marketplace.
Sales growth is mainly driven by the Asia Pacific and China emerging domestic markets. Year-to-date sales breakdown by region was as follows: 70% from China (incl. HK), 20% from Taiwan, 9% from ASEAN.
August sales breakdown by product category was as follows: 44% from core chips (CPU, MPU, chipsets), 32% from standard chips (logic, analog/linear, discrete and ASSP), 10% from memory chips (DRAM, SRAM, Flash, EEPROM), 4% from Passive, and 10% from others.
