Semiconductor Distributor - WPG (TSE:3702) Announces August 2006 Consolidated Sales of TW$11.367 billion (US$347 Million)

WPG, the largest distributor of semiconductor components in Asia, posted consolidated sales of NT$11.367 billion (approximately US$347 million) for the month of August 2006, representing a 21% m-o-m increase. Year-to-Date consolidated sales reported TW$75.247 billion (approximately US$2.325 billion), representing a 6% y-o-y increase. PC demand boomed, supported by successful Intel/AMD pricing cut policy. Consumer and mobile product demand positively performed. WPG expects 10%-15% QoQ sales increase for 3Q.
Year-to-Date sales breakdown by shipment regions was as follows: 31% from Taiwan, 56% from China (incl. HK) and 13% from Asean.
Year-to-Date sales breakdown by product category was as follows: 39% from core chips (CPU, MPU, chipsets), 35% from standard chips (logic, analog/linear, discrete and ASSP), 17% from memory chips (DRAM, SRAM, Flash, EEPROM), and 9% from others.
