Semiconductor Distributor - WPG (TSE:3702) Announces June 2006 Consolidated Sales of TW$9.197 billion (US$284 Million)

WPG, the largest distributor of semiconductor components in Asia, posted consolidated sales of NT$9.197 billion (approximately US$284 million) for the month of June 2006, representing a 5% y-o-y increase. Year-to-Date consolidated sales reported TW$54.534 billion (approximately US$1.692 billion), representing a 10% y-o-y increase. Moderately ascending demand for consumer products and slowly recovering sales of PC-related products supported June m-o-m 7% sales increase. 2H is normally the hottest season for electronics industry. Intel aggressive pricing cut-down strategy on CPU in this July is expected to effectively stimulate demand in electronics sector. WPG 3Q performance, given its well-covered line cards, should be riding with the said promising factors.
Performance of the 2 major WPG major entities was as follows: World Peace Group reported consolidated sales of NT$7.079 billion (approximately US$218 million), citing an 11% y-o-y increase. Year-to-Date consolidated sales reported TW$40.577 billion (approximately US$1.259 billion), representing a 9% y-o-y increase. SAC Group for June, 2006 recorded consolidated sales of NT$2.118 billion (approximately US$66 million), compatible with the same period of last year. Year-to-Date consolidated sales reported TW$13.957 billion (approximately US$433 million), representing a 12% y-o-y increase.
Year-to-Date sales breakdown by regions was as follows: 28% from Taiwan, 60% from China (incl. HK) and 12% from Asean.
Year-to-Date sales breakdown by product category was as follows: 40% from core chips (CPU, MPU, chipsets), 35% from standard chips (logic, analog/linear, discrete and ASSP), 17% from memory chips (DRAM, SRAM, Flash, EEPROM), and 8% from others.
