WPG, the largest distributor of semiconductor components in Asia, posted consolidated sales of NT$10.1 billion (approximately US$312 million) for the month of December 2005, representing a 28% y-o-y increase respectively. For year 2005, WPG achieved sales of NT$115.2 billion (approximately US$3.6 billion), a 19% y-o-y increase over the corresponding period in 2004.
Performance of the 2 major WPG’s major entities was as follows: World Peace Group reported consolidated sales of NT$7.3 billion (approximately US$228 million), citing a 17% m-o-m decrease and a 20% y-o-y increase for the month of December 2005 respectively. For Year 2005, the Group achieved sales of NT$86.3 billion (approximately US$2.7 billion), an 18% y-o-y increase over the corresponding period in 2004. Demand in December was moderately strong even counting seasonality, NAND Flash shortage however adversely affected the sales. For December, 2005, SAC Group recorded consolidated sales of NT$2.8 billion (approximately US$84 million), representing a 4% m-o-m decrease but a 53% y-o-y increase respectively. For Year 2005, the Group achieved sales of NT$28.9 billion (approximately US$898 million), a 20% y-o-y increase over the corresponding period in 2004. SAC Group’s growth momentum has been buoyed by the promising handheld products and the successful business expansion in China.
Sales breakdown by geographic areas for Year 2005 was as follows: 30% from Taiwan, 55% from China (incl. HK) and 15% from Asean. The Greater China is WPG’s sales focus.
Sales breakdown by product category for the past 11 months was as follows: 43% from core chips (CPU, MPU, chipsets), 32% from standard chips (logic, linear, discrete and ASSP), 18% from memory chips (DRAM, SRAM, Flash, EEPROM), and 7% from others.
