WPG to Launch Online Seminars in December Displaying “LED, Smart Phones, Mobile Application Platforms and Network Media Players” Solutions Online
2009-11-20
WPG Group, Asia’s premier distributor of semiconductor components, continues to launch its hotspot solutions for key areas. These include mobile handsets, laptops, television sets, home appliances, LED lighting and automotive electronics, as well as other prominent industries, as the company fulfills its role as the semiconductor device industry’s key supply chain solutions provider.
In December 2009, WPG will join forces with the China Region’s industry media in launching a series of online seminars to display “LED, Smart Phones, Mobile Application Platforms and Network Media Players” solutions. Customers are cordially invited to participate in the various topical online workshops and engage in real-time interaction with WPG. Details for each session of the seminar are as follows:
12/8 Silicon Applications: Dimmable Mains Voltage LED Driver Solution
[Event website: http://www.chinawebinar.com/landing/177886.HTM]
The NXP SSL2101, distributed by WPG’s Silicon Applications Group, is a compact switch mode power supply (SMPS) controller IC designed specifically for driving LED devices with dimmable capability. SSL2101 is able to drive a variety of lighting systems with different power requirements, including LED retro-fit lamps, LED modules, LED spotlights, searchlights and LED strings for retail display.
Fully compatible with today’s lighting infrastructure, SSL2101 is able to use rectified household mains power supply directly and can work in conjunction with the phase dimmers. SSL2101 contains a high-voltage power switch which allows start-up from rectified mains voltage without an external start-up circuit. To support the dimming capability, SSL2101 contains two integrated high-voltage switches to operate the voltage divider, as well as an input for sensing real-time lighting power. This seminar will focus on SSL2101’s dimming solutions and design applications.
World Peace Industrial Group’s Android Smartphone Solutions 12/15
[Event website: http://seminar.eccn.com/091215/register.asp]
Android is the name of the Linux-based open-source mobile phone operating system first announced by Google on November 5, 2007. The platform consists of the operating system, intermediary software, user interface and application software, and is the first truly open and comprehensive mobile software platform for mobile devices.
The TI OMAP3530, distributed by WPG’s World Peace Industrial Group, is designed for smartphones, GPS systems, laptops and other portable applications with low power requirements. Integrated into the OMAP 3530’s single chip are the core of ARM Cortex-A8, the core of TMS320C64x DSP, graphics engine, video accelerators, and a variety of multimedia peripherals. Among these is the Cortex-A8, which has four times the processing power of the 300-MHz ARM9. OMAP3530 can be used in applications such as streaming media, 2D/3D games, high-definition images, 3G multimedia phones and high-performance PDAs.
World Peace Industrial Group has ported Android to the OMAP3530 platform, and has planned the development of the following modules: 1) China Wireless’s EDGE / 3G module; 2) Elan’s TouchPAD (Multi-Touch); 3) Jorjin’s WG7310 module (WiFi + Bluetooth + FM); 4) LOCOSYS’s GPS module; 5) Innofidei’s CMMB; 6) Freescale / ADI G-Sensor.
This seminar will focus on applications for the Android platform, comparison with other operating systems, and the Android solutions and applications that World Peace has ported to the OMAP3530 platform.
